Tonight a group of enthusiatic local volunteers agreed to commence the Elm Community Hub project.
Many years ago the village church hall was lost to subsidence; the facilities it provided have never been replaced and Elm parish (despite being one of the largest parishes in Cambridgeshire) has no community facilities. No space for social events, no space for community groups, nothing.
It’s time to rectify that and a small committee of volunteers have been elected with the support of the Elm Parochial Church Council to investigate ways to fix our 800 year old Grade 1 Listed church to become a welcoming space for the community to use, whilst preserving the use of the sacred space.
We don’t know how the road will go, but we know we need to raise a lot of money, and do a lot of work to make it happen.
